Marité Ugás

Born in Lima, Peru. With his company Sudaca Films (Lima/ Caracas) he directs, writes and produces feature films, which have received prestigious international awards, such as the Golden Shell in San Sebastian, the Silver Alexander in Thessaloniki, the Silver Astor in Mar del Plata or Fipresci Awards in his different films.

As director and screenwriter, her Opera Prima, "A la media noche y media" (co-direction with M. Rondón)- Tokyo 1999- received Opera Prima awards in different festivals. "The Boy Who Lies" (Berlinale 2011) received Best Film at Ikaro, at Flanders, Best Screenplay at Havana, among others. "Contacted" (TRIBECA 2020) had Best Direction at Huelva and Caracas.

As a screenwriter and producer, she has written "Bad Hair" (M. Rondón)- Toronto 2023- best screenplay at Torino, Mar del Plata and Sao Paulo, along with 63 outstanding awards (Golden Shell at San Sebastian) and ZAFARI (M. Rondón)- San Sebastian 2024, Prix du Syndicat de la Critique Française.

He currently co-directs "La Noche de San Juan" (NETFLIX/ REDRUM, Mexico), to be released in late 2025.

She has been invited to the prestigious MacDowell US artist residency (2016).
