Mar Novo

Mar Novo is a Mexican film and television writer and director, member of the LGBTQ+ community. She graduated with a B.F.A. in Filmmaking from the New York Film Academy.

In 2021, he directed his debut feature film, "The Three Sisters"which premiered at the Raindance Film Festival 2023 and was an official selection of FICG39 and LALIFF in 2024. Its commercial theatrical release in the United States was February 21, 2025.

In television, he was part of the writing room for the Amazon Prime Video original series, "Mentiras": El Musical, an adaptation of the hit musical by José Manuel López Velarde, under the direction of showrunner Gabriel Ripstein.

In 2023, his feature-length screenplay, "White Island"was selected for the Storylines Lab of Cine Qua Non Lab.

In 2024, he directed the short film "La Mosca en la Pared" (The Fly on the Wall)written and starring Rossana de León, which is currently touring national and international festivals.

He recently finished filming his second feature film, "8 Ways to Die", written and directed by her, and starring Daniela Salinas and Nora Velázquez.written and directed by her, and starring Daniela Salinas and Nora Velázquez. The film was selected as part of Industria for FICG 40 as part of Guadalajara Construye. It is currently in post-production.
