He has been a professional screenwriter since 2004 and has written in virtually every genre: from comedy to horror, from documentaries to soap operas. Among the programs he has participated in are "Descontrol" the first animated series made entirely in Mexico, where he was head writer; "Difícil de creer," "Lo que la gente cuenta", “Demente”, "At nightfall", "Pinche Pancho," and "Las Malcriadas", all broadcast on Televisión Azteca.
In 2016, he was part of the team that developed and wrote "El Vato", NBC Universo's first fiction series. This series won the International Emmy in the Best Non-English U.S. Primetime Program category in 2018. Between 2017 and 2018, he was part of the writing team for the television series "Señora Acero 4" and "Señora Acero 5", for Telemundo. In 2018, he joined the writing team for "La Reina del Sur Season 2", also an International Emmy Award winner. She was Head Writer for "Rebelde" and the adaptation "Cindy La Regia" , both for Netflix. She developed and wrote "Enigma" for HBO Max, and is the creator of "Pinches Momias" for VIX+. In 2025, he premiered the series "90 Minutos" where he participated as a writer. He is currently developing a couple of series for the production companies Alebrije and El Estudio, and it was recently announced that José Miguel has joined the creators of a new medical series for Amazon Prime.
