He studied at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica. After graduating, he wrote nine episodes of the first season of “Familia P. Luche” with Eugenio Derbez. In 2010, he co-wrote the screenplay for the film “Abel”, alongside Diego Luna, a project that earned them the Ariel Award for Best Original Screenplay.
In 2012, he wrote the screenplay for the animated film “El Santos vs. La Tetona Mendoza”, based on the characters Jis and Trino. In 2014, he co-wrote the film “Mr. Pig”, starring Danny Glover and Maya Rudolph. He wrote six episodes of the series “El Vato” for NBC Universo from 2015 to 2016, a series that won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Primetime Non-English Language Program. In 2019, he also wrote three episodes of the second season of the series “Diablero” . That same year, “Chicuarotes”, a film he wrote and directed by Gael García, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
He was part of the writing team for the series that premiered in 2021 “Everything Is Going to Be Okay” and also developed the series “Belascorán,” both for Netflix. He recently premiered the series “The Gringo Hunters” for Netflix and is currently developing a series for the same streaming platform.
