Rafael Fernández Samano

Rafael Samano is a screenwriter, novelist, and journalist. He has worked on TV series in English and Spanish, such as “Coyote” from Paramount, “El Juicio” from Amazon, and “NCIS: Origins” on CBS. As a journalist, he covered political news in Mexico and the United States, with a special focus on the war on drug trafficking, immigration, and the border. He was part of the international team that published the “Panama Papers,” one of the most significant journalistic investigations of recent decades.

He has been awarded the UNAM–COLSIN–Siglo XXI International Literature Prize and the Walter Reuter German Journalism Prize, and has received a fellowship from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Screenwriting from the University of Southern California (USC) in the United States and a master’s degree in National Security, Counterterrorism, and Cybersecurity from Reichman University in Israel.
