Faride Schroeder is a Mexican director and writer with an intuitive and visually powerful feminine perspective. Forbes included her among the 100 most creative Mexicans in the world; the prestigious platform Nowness named her one of the 5 international directors to watch, and her work has been featured in national and international media outlets such as the Los Angeles Times, Brut France, Sensacine, Shots, Gatopardo, Vogue, and Time Out, among others.
She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication with a concentration in Film from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. For six years, Faride served as the ambassador for Free The Work in Mexico, the global initiative for underrepresented women filmmakers and creators founded by Alma Har’el. She is also a co-founder of the Mexican audiovisual collective Dear Sisters.
Following the success of *Searching for Italy* with Stanley Tucci, CNN and Raw T.V. in London approached her to direct the first two episodes of *Searching for Mexico*, with Eva Longoria as host and executive producer (available on HBO Max, Prime Video, BBC, and Paramount+). Faride is creative co-producer of the feature film “Los Minutos Negros” (Vix), which received 8 nominations and 3 Ariel Awards from the Mexican Film Academy; and of “Son of Monarchs” (HBO Max), a Mexican-American co-production selected as the best of the year by New York Times critics and winner of the Alfred P. Sloan Award at the Sundance Film Festival.
Faride’s work as a director and screenwriter has been screened at international festivals such as Cinélatino Rencontres de Toulouse, the Fantasia Film Festival, the Morelia International Film Festival, the Guanajuato International Film Festival, and Critics’ Week at the Cannes Film Festival. Her short film *Oasis* won first place nationally and first place internationally at Nespresso Talents, and the following year Faride served on the international jury for the same competition at the Cannes Film Festival. 'Daughters of Witches,' starring Oscar nominee Yalitza Aparicio and Dolores Heredia, was produced by Disney L.A. and is part of the Bite Size Halloween series on the U.S. streaming platform Hulu. It was also a winner at the San Diego Latino Film Festival and FicMonterrey. Thanks to its success, Disney asked him to write the feature film based on the original concept of “Daughters of Witches.”
His feature film screenplay, *Los Amantes de este Mundo*, was selected by the Morelia International Film Festival for its Screenwriting Lab and is currently in development; and his feature-length documentary project, *Oasis*, won the Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund at the Los Cabos International Film Festival and five awards at the FICG Co-Production Forum, and is currently in production.
In addition to her film career, Faride has directed premium advertising and branded content for 13 years, working with international clients such as Heineken Global, American Express, the U.S. Postal Service, Pepsi, Chevrolet London, and Victoria Beer U.S., among others, with a presence in Mexico, the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. She has been a speaker at Advertising Week in New York, an Ambassador for the More Like Me program at the Cannes Lions Festival, and a juror for the Young Director Award at the same festival.
