David Pablos studied at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) and received a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue a specialization in Film Directing at Columbia University in New York, USA. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and the National System of Creators.
His most recent film, “On the Road” (2025), premiered at the 82nd Venice Biennale, where it won the Orizzonti Award for Best Film and the Queer Lion Award; it also won awards at the Morelia Film Festival—Best Actor and Best Cinematography—and at the Miami Film Festival for Best International Film, and to date has been screened at more than 40 international film festivals.
His feature film, “El baile de los 41” (2021), premiered worldwide on Netflix, reaching the top 10 in more than 40 countries, and that same year won four Ariel Awards, including Best Actor and Best Art Direction.
With “The Chosen Ones” (2015) was screened at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival, in the Un Certain Regard section, and at the 58th Ariel Awards, it won Best Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Breakout Actress, and Best Original Screenplay.
In 2008, he participated in the Morelia International Film Festival with his film “The Song of the Dead Children” (2008), which won the Best Short Film Award; it later won the Ariel Award and was screened at the Cannes Critics’ Week.
