David Pablos

David Pablos is a Mexican writer and director, known for films such as  “El Baile de los 41” (2020)  “Las Elegidas” (2015). His most recent work has been as an episode director on the Amazon Western series titled  “La Cabeza De Joaquin Murrieta” , premiering in February 2023. His films have garnered a total of 28 nominations for the Ariel Awards (the Mexican Oscars) and have taken home 14 wins, including Best Picture, Directing, Screenplay, and Acting.

“The Dance of the 41” (2020) premiered at the San Sebastián Film Festival and was acquired by Netflix, where it remained in the platform’s Top 10 for weeks, and received thirteen nominations for the Ariel Awards, winning five. Previously, he directed “The Chosen Ones” (2015), which competed at the Cannes, San Sebastián, Zurich, and Stockholm Film Festivals, among others. The film was also nominated for the Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film and swept the Ariel Awards, winning Best Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Performance. David’s debut feature, “Vida Después”, premiered at the Venice Biennale and won an award at the Morelia International Film Festival. His most recent film “On the Road” had its international premiere at the Biennale, winning the Queerlion Award and Best Film in the Horizons section. The national premiere took place during the 23rd edition of the Morelia International Film Festival. David Pablos is currently preparing for the film’s nationwide theatrical release in June of this year.
