Mexican screenwriter and director. She studied Audiovisual Arts at the University of Guadalajara. She complemented her training with drama and acting classes, participating in plays such as "The Orphan Muses" by Michel Marc Bouchard. As a director and screenwriter, she directed the short films "Death Foretold" (2006) and "The Little Miracle of San Jacinto" (2007), before making her feature-length debut.
His debut feature, “Los insólitos peces gato” (The Unusual Catfish) , Official Selection of the 11th FICM, premiered at the Locarno Film Festival, was nominated for several awards and won Best Ibero-American Film at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, the Young Jury Prize at the Locarno International Film Festival, the FIPRESCI Prize at the Toronto International Film Festival, Best Film at the Baja Film Festival in Los Cabos, among others.
His second feature film, The Empty Box (2016), was part of the Official Selection of the 14th FICM and also received several nominations at festivals around the world such as the Miami Film Festival and the Hermosillo International Film Festival.
He recently directed and wrote the film "The Kingdom of God," which premiered in theaters in Mexico in 2024. It has enjoyed notable success at international festivals since its participation in the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale 2022). He also premiered the feature film "Love and Mathematics" in 2024. He is currently developing personal projects.
