Mexican writer, author of several short story collections and novels, including “Los niños de paja”, “Demonia”, “Black Sea”, “The Eighth Plague”, “Coffin Flesh”, “Underworld”, “The Book of the Gods” and “Intimate Killer”. In 2017, he won the National Crime Novel Award for “The Incredible Adventures of the Astonishing Edgar Allan Poe”. His work has been translated into English, Hebrew, and Hungarian.
He was nominated for the prestigious Shirley Jackson Award in the United States. He served as a consultant on the series “Diablero” , and has also consulted on screenplays for directors such as Michelle Garza Cervera, Jorge Michel Grau, J.M. Cravioto, Rigoberto Perezcano, and Edgar Nito. He co-wrote screenplays with Gibrán Portela. His novel “Toda la sangre” was adapted into a television series by LIONSGATE+, a project for which he also served as a consultant. He developed the feature film “La Captura” for the production company Draco Films about El Chapo Guzmán’s famous escape; this film will premiere on Netflix sometime in 2026.
